I was a late starter to the game of golf taking it up when I was 16 years old. Four years later after having many hours of tuition, I managed to reduce my handicap to 0.7. After competing in many amateur events locally and further afield, I turned Professional in 2006.
Since qualifying as a PGA Instructor, I have constantly endeavoured to improve myself as a coach and further my knowledge of the game. I believe, that it is the committment to improvement, together with keeping up to date with current practices and techniques, which has enabled me to become an effective and empathetic coach.
I am very much against 'ripping it up and starting again', I believe in teaching strong fundemental practices to encourage simple and effective swing movements.
I have held my position as Tom Field’s Assistant since March 2013 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role. I was a junior member at The Wychwood from 2003-10 and fortunate enough to captain the Junior Team in 2008.
During my coaching, I provide simple, effective instruction to better those at all levels. I feel it is crucial to understand how my clients learn. I aim to give them short and long-term goals from each session in order to achieve consistently better scores.
In 2014 I introduced ‘Get Into Golf’ beginner group sessions to the club. These are 4-week courses (1 hour per week) costing only £20 per person! They happened to be the most successful in all of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (BB&O) and for this I received an award. These will again run throughout 2016 for both men and women.
I continued our successful junior group lessons on Saturday afternoons and taught 15 children from a local primary school during their summer term. Tom and I also provided golf for summer schools and worked with the junior squad. This year I will use the our own form of Golf Foundation Junior Passport Scheme to develop young golfers in schools and at the club.
