Welcome to the Junior Section of The Wychwood Golf Club.

The club has enjoyed considerable success over the years even though the Junior Team squad is rather smaller than other clubs within Oxfordshire.

The team have been lucky enough to have won the Oxfordshire Junior League's Smedley Shield Junior Team Medal Championship 3 times, in 1996, 2003 & 2005. We have seen outstanding individual performances from Chris Hollingdale, reaching the Finals of the Daily Telegraph Junior Championships at Sea Island, Georgia , USA . Added to which several of our juniors have gone on to represent the County at B. B. & O. level and, at present we still have some juniors involved with the County.

At Oxfordshire county level we saw Sam Cotton and Rob Knight wining individual trophies in the Autumn Trophy & Cherwell Cup respectively in 2004. In 2005 Ben Cotton & Rob Knight won the Oxfordshire Junior Foursomes. The Junior Team's greatest achievement to date was to win the North Oxfordshire section of the Junior League, a first in the Club’s history.

Junior Hit & Hint

To introduce our juniors to the game of golf, we offer a regular Hit & Hint session every Saturday afternoon for 1 hour at a cost of £3.50 per child.

This is a perfect opportunity for youngsters to get a taste for the game without having the initial outlay of any equipment. All clubs and balls are provided along with expert tuition from our dedicated golf professionals.

Young Masters Golf

The natural progression from the ‘Hit & Hint sessions for our junior golfers at the Wychwood golf academy, is to enroll on to the fully accredited YMG coaching course.

Young Masters Golf is a complete coaching package for children aged between 6-16 years old, to introduce them to the game of golf. 

YMG features progressive stages of learning with four levels at each stage and each level comprising of an 8 week course.  Every child will receive a comprehensive manual which covers all aspects of the game including how to play, the rules and etiquette. 

Stage 1 features Cadets, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, after which children graduate to the second stage (Masters), which also has 4 levels. 

The cost of each course is £75.

The Cadets course offers each child a ‘free’ Junior 7 iron when they sign up, exclusive to The Wychwood Golf Academy. 

Junior Playing Lessons

As they advance through the YMG course the young developing golfers will have the opportunity to put their skills into practice on the golf course. This will be under the supervision of our golf professionals where a 9 hole junior handicap can be achieved so that their progress can be recorded and improved upon.
